Start by watching this short video to get motivated… then come back and let us calm those of you who are intimidated and encourage others who are ready to go!
In it’s most simple definition. CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensities.
What on earth does that mean?
Variance -
Every time you step into our box you will be doing something different. We have made it a point to never repeat workouts. The only exception would be when we do our “Benchmark WODs.” These WODs will measure your progress as you gain strength, speed, power, etc.
Functional Movements -
These would be movements that are useful to you in life. A good example of something that serves use to you is a squat. You need a squat each and every time you sit down or stand up. A bad example of a “functional movement” would be a dumbbell curl. This movement would serve you zero use in life.
Think of it like this… we practice movements that would make you more able to survive if Armageddon strikes.
High Intensity -
Is that jogging on a treadmill and not taking a drink of water for a 1/4 mile? No. Not at all. This would be more of a “not high-intensity” fitness program. We move weights and/or our bodies as far as possible in the least amount of time possible. When the clock counts down, people get moving. The actual workout time (5-20 minutes on average) you will gather that nobody talks. Everyone in the box is pushing his/herself as hard as possible to get the results that they are looking for. Nothing worth having in life comes easy.
